Positive Thinking - 28 Ideas For Keeping Your Positive Energy Flowing

1. Remember that your thoughts create your destiny. Recognize your own power to create your life.

2. Stop worrying. Often by worrying we feel like we are "doing" something about a problem when we aren't. When we worry we are in the past or in the future. By staying in the present we can actually problem-solve the situation as it actually exists.

3. Don't believe in defeat. Unexpected opportunities often come with what initially seem like negative outcomes or mistakes . Also, when you feel defeated, make a list of the factors that are supportive of you, rather than focusing on those that are against you.

4. Stop all those little negatives because they grow in to large ones. Use thought stopping and the steps toward changing your negative self-talk.

5. Name what is blocking your positive thoughts. What prevents you from thinking positive all the time?

6. Examine each of your core beliefs in terms of how it operates in your life. Make a commitment to yourself to eliminate the ones that cause you distress or problems.

7. Focus on the present. Your energy is drained by regretting the past and worrying about the future. Stay grounded in the here-and-now where it is easier to actually problem-solve the real situations.

8. When faced with a problem, focus on possible solutions and the resources that you do have. Brainstorm. What are the many options available, not just the black-and-white solutions or obvious ones?

9. Take self-responsibility. Stop blaming others for your unhappiness. Recognize the consequences of your choices.

10. Identify your personal definition of success. This helps you decide which path you want to take and to know when you have arrived at your goal. Your definition of success will be unique to you. No one else can define it for you.

11. Fill your life with positive supportive people. Allow their positive opinion of you in. Don't block them because their opinions do not fit your image of yourself. What is the worse thing that could happen if you thought positive thoughts about yourself? You might actually feel more energetic and motivated and have more fun!

12. Avoid draining your energy by focusing on the past and looking at mistakes that have already been made. Focus on the lesson learned and not on the mistake. What can you learn from the choice you made, whether it was a good choice or not?

13. Express your appreciation and positive feelings toward others. Say thank you when they complete simple daily tasks. Avoid draining your energy focusing on what they didn't or haven't done.

14. When feeling overwhelmed by change, make a list of what is staying the same and what is not changing. What do you already know? What can you keep doing the same as before?

15. Acknowledge out loud your positive traits and successes. Question why it is considered conceited or arrogant to talk about what you do well.

16. Keep a gratitude journal. Each night before bed list three things that you are grateful for that day. Some days it may simply be that you are grateful that the day is finally over!

17. Work at being content with who you are rather than pleasing others by wearing your social mask. When you wear a mask and try to be everything to everyone it can be exhausting. There is no space left for you. Also, I find that in order to please everyone I would have to keep switching masks for each new person because everyone will want something different.

18. Ask yourself: "How do I manufacture my own unhappiness?"

19. Keep asking yourself what is really important. In five years how much will this really matter?

20. Brainstorm a list of what makes you happy. Direct your attention to what pleases you. How can you allow or create more of this in your life?

21. Practice random acts of kindness.

22. Suspend judgment of yourself and others. Practice self-acceptance and acceptance of others. What does judging yourself or someone else achieve? Acceptance does not mean never changing. However, you cannot change what you don't recognize or accept you are doing.

23. Affirm and reaffirm your assets. List ten achievements you have obtained over the last 5 years. It could be finding a new job, taking a course, learning a new skill or changing your attitude.

24. Trust your intuition. Your intuition is that "gut feeling" or that hunch. It is your inner self speaking to you.

25. Create a home environment that is pleasing and nurturing to you.

26. Work at a job that energizes you.

27. Slow down. Learn to respond, rather than react.

28. Our own attitude is often what we see reflected in others. People in our lives act as mirrors to allow us to see ourselves more clearly. If you are surrounded by negative people, take a look at yourself. How might these people be a reflection of your own attitude? Similarly, as you become more positive you will attract more positive people to you. Initially though, as you become more positive the negative people in your life may escalate their negatively in order to try to pull you back in. Remember it is not your job to change them. Focus your energy on being more positive and creating more positive energy in your own life.

Which 5 of these suggestions will you commit to focusing on over the next 6 months?

10 Tips to Boost Your Positive Energy

Wouldn't it be great to pop out of bed in the morning, have flowing energy throughout your day without any caffeine or candy bars, accomplish everything you want, and feel great? For most people this would be a dream--we could all use more energy!

I'll share with you 10 simple tips to boost your energy each day. The key is consistency. You need to do these things regularly to feel the cumulative effects.

1. Plan important activities when you have the most energy.

10 Tips to Boost Your Positive Energy

This is one of my favorite tips. Plan your schedule around your energy level. Choose activities and projects that are naturally energy producing at your low points in the day. If you drag in the morning, plan one of your more enjoyable activities first thing. It may take some time to transition your schedule but it will be worth it!

2. Do the work you love.

Nothing is as energy increasing as passion and enthusiasm. If you have no interest in your work, it's unlikely that you'll ever have optimal energy. This doesn't mean that you must love everything you do but at least some of it must utilize your natural talents and interests.

3. Boost your energy by getting regular exercise.

This certainly does not come as a surprise to you. You know that you exercise makes you feel good and boosts your energy. You just need to do it--regularly.

4. Know your personality style.

Your personality determines what is energy draining or producing for you. If you're naturally an introvert you typically recharge by quiet time on your own. If you're naturally an extrovert, you typically gain energy by social time with others.

5. Eat right and watch your energy soar.

This is another one of those tips that you already know but, if you're like most people, probably aren't doing. A diet rich in complex carbohydrates, protein, and fiber will help you sustain energy and avoid the sugar roller coaster that you get when you eat sugary snacks.

6. Keep the big picture in mind.

It's easy to get caught up in the moment of stressful situations and feel exhausted. If, however, you remember the big picture including why you're motivated to achieve your goal or why the small stuff isn't that important, you'll feel energized.

7. Drink water.

One of the most common causes of fatigue is dehydration. We often mistakenly assume that we're hungry but the fatigue culprit is often thirst.

8. Celebrate and reward achievements.

The more you focus on your achievements, both large and small, the more success focused you will become. This will help you achieve more and all this achievement is sure to boost energy.

9. Avoid energy-vampires.

You know these types of people. Just being in their presence seems to drain your energy in the blink of an eye. Use assertiveness skills and limit your time with them.

10. Take physical and mental breaks.

Monotony is exhausting. Periodically give yourself a break by a few moments of mindless activity and quick stretching exercises or walking.

If some of these tips stand out to you as more energizing or practical, select those and focus on implementing them consistently. You'll get and keep your energy flowing.

Keeping a Positive Attitude When Life Gets You Down

So your ship didn't come in because it sprung a leak and sank instead. Something you hoped for didn't materialize, or you've suffered a loss. Something crummy comes your way.

It's very tempting and easy to lapse into lethargy and become immobilized. In fact, that's the response of the majority of the people out there. So if you really want an extra edge over everyone else that will help ensure your success, become one of the few who are able to persevere in spite of setbacks.

It's fine to take some time to grieve or to just plain mope. But at some point, and probably sooner than you think you're ready, it's time to pull yourself together and forge ahead.

Keeping a Positive Attitude When Life Gets You Down

Here are some strategies to help you get back on track:

1. Start filling your personal hopper. This means to start initiating things that might come back to you or that might grow into something of value. For example, if your job has gone from bad to worse, update your resume and start sending it out. Start an internet business on the side. Enroll in a course to upgrade your skills. Order something exciting by mail order. Plan a trip. These are all seeds to plant for the future. Just taking these steps will energize you and give you a sense of optimism, because you have things to look forward to.

2. Schedule a night out with friends or with a loved one. Even if you don't feel like it, force yourself to do this. Go see a movie or try a restaurant you've been wanting to visit. You don't have to discuss your problems if you don't want to; often the camaraderie and sense of support is enough.

3. Start a project unrelated to your problem. For instance, start cleaning out the garage and getting it organized. Learn to knit, and make a scarf for a loved one. Commit to a running program. When you pull your focus away from your problem, it actually makes you more open to creative solutions. Often they'll come to you, unbidden, while you're engaged in an unrelated activity.

If you already know what brings you out of a funk, capture these strategies in a list somewhere. The next time you're struggling and need a lift, consult this list and take action. Sometimes you absolutely have to force yourself to do this. (It's similar to how we want to slap that perky person who insists on telling us to have a terrific day when we're feeling grumpy.) But if you force yourself, the momentum will kick in, and your attitude will improve.

And when your attitude improves, ideas and solutions are more likely to come to you.
